Frequently Asked Questions:

How would you describe your approach to providing DJ entertainment?

My style reflects the elegance of your formal affair. I do not perform a “show” with club-style lights and props. I focus on playing great music that you and your guests will enjoy.

Will you also serve as a Master of Ceremonies?

Yes, I will make all introductions, announcements, and dedications with eloquence. I will help to manage your reception’s timeline and sequence of events, such as first dance, cake cutting, etc. I will work with your caterer, photographer, and other hired professionals to ensure that your event runs smoothly.

Can your provide music for the wedding ceremony as well?

Yes, I can provide ceremony music at your reception site for an additional fee. I can also provide a wireless microphone for your officiant and readers.

How much wedding experience do you have?

Over sixteen years! I performed at my first wedding in 1992. Since then, I have performed at hundreds of weddings, as well as other events, such as parties and reunions. I have also performed at popular nightclubs in Boston and on the South Shore.

What does the function hall need to supply?

One dressed six or eight-foot banquet table located in proximity to the dance floor with a nearby electrical source.

What time will you arrive at the venue to set up?

I typically arrive one hour prior to the start of the event. This allows ample time to test all components, make adjustments for optimal sound performance and to review notes for your wedding.

How often do you take breaks?

Never! I provide music continuously during the scheduled time with no interruptions.

What will your attire be?

My standard attire for weddings is black tie (tuxedo).

What types of music do you have in your collection?

I have a comprehensive music library containing 40,000 + songs spanning from the big band swing era to today’s hottest hits.

What if you don't have a song that we would like played at our wedding?

If I don’t have a particular song that you have requested, I will make every effort to get it in time for your event with adequate advance notice. If I cannot locate it, I would be happy to play your CD.

How are guests’ requests handled during the reception?

I welcome requests from your guests throughout the event – I want your guests to have fun as much as you do! I will attempt to play as many requests as possible, as long as they fall within your guidelines, are appropriate for a wedding, and can be successfully incorporated into the flow of the music.

Can we choose songs we would like to be played at our wedding?

Yes, of course, this is your special day and I welcome your input. I encourage you to provide me with a short list of songs that you would especially like to hear at the reception, usually about a month before your wedding date, as well as any songs you do not want played. I will also ask you to let me know what songs you would like played for any special dances (first dance, father-daughter dance, etc) and other events (cake cutting, etc). However, it is not in your best interest to choose every song to be played at your reception. As a professional DJ with years of wedding experience, I am able to read the crowd and select music accordingly, to ensure that your guests are up on the dance floor having fun throughout the event!

Can we see you perform prior to booking your services?

No, my clients’ weddings are private events and I do not use my clients’ weddings to try to secure other bookings. I am happy to meet with you in person and describe my services as well as provide references from past clients. After you book your wedding with me, you can rest assured that your event will not be open to other prospects as well.

Do your have wireless microphones that can be used for speeches or toasts?

Yes, I will provide wireless microphones for any blessing, speech or toast that is authorized by the bride and groom.

Do you offer lighting, special effects, or props?

No, I do not. I am able to keep your guests dancing and having fun without tacky props or light shows.

Do you subcontract weddings to other DJs?

No, never! I will be the DJ performing at your wedding.

How many hours are included in a typical contract? Is overtime available?

The typical contract includes 5 hours of performance time and includes set-up and break-down. Of course, this can be adjusted to suit your needs. Overtime is available at the rate of $100/hour and must be paid in full at the time the request. Overtime is also subject to approval of the venue manager.

How do I reserve my wedding date?

A $500 deposit along with a signed contract are required to secure my services on your wedding date.

When is the remaining balance due?

The final payment is due on (or before) the day of your event. I accept cash or personal checks. Unfortunately, I am unable to accept credit cards at this time.

Do you charge any additional fees?

Additional fees are applicable only in the following situations (and would be clearly noted in your contract):
(1) You request my services for your onsite ceremony.
(2) Your cocktail hour is held in a location other than the reception room.
(3) Your reception room is located on an upper floor without elevator access and/or challenging set-ups.
(4) Your reception venue has paid parking.
(5) You request overtime beyond the standard 5 hours.
(6) Your reception is located on Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket.

What is your cancellation policy?

The deposit is non-refundable. However, if you must cancel, the deposit may be applied towards a future booking within one year. If you cancel within 60 days of the reserved date, 50% of the remaining balance will be charged. If you cancel within 30 days of the reserved date, full payment of the balance will be charged.

Are references available?

Of course, I am happy to provide references on request.
